Harry Potter Fun Facts
Let’s jump into some Harry Potter fun facts.
Ron’s Robes
In the first movie, Draco Malfoy introduces himself to Harry Potter. After he introduces himself Ron laughs. Draco looks at him and says “Red hair, and a hand-me-down robe. You must be a Weasley.”
Throughout the 1st and 2nd movies, Ron has different robes than the rest of the students. Having dirty, old uniforms.
Once the Weasleys win the lottery in the 3rd movie, you can see that Ron has nice new robes that match with everyone else. Did you notice that in the Harry Potter films?
No Spells
Did you know that Harry Potter does not cast a single spell in the 1st movie?
This is kinda funny. Throughout the first movie Harry Potter is praised about being an excellent wizard. However, Harry does not cast a single spell.
Starbucks Logo
Did you see the Starbucks logo on the wall? When Harry is looking at the Black family tree, look in the corner. You will see a Starbucks logo on the wall. It looks a little different, but it still the Starbucks mermaid with her crown and 2 tails.
Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling Share the Same Birthday
Did you know that Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling have the same birthday? It is true. The author of Harry Potter J.K. Rowling decided to share her birthday with Harry Potter. They were both born on July 31st.
The Many Places of Writing
Throughout the writing process of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling wrote in many different places. She also wrote on many different things. She ended up writing the ideas for the Hogwarts Houses on an airplane barf bag!
Peeves the Ghost was Supposed to be in the Films
Peeves the mischievous Hogwarts ghost (shown in the books many times) was supposed to be in the films. Unfortunately, he was cut out.
The late British comedian and actor Rik Mayall was cast as Peeves in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone”. However the director (Chris Columbus) cut the scenes, because he didn’t like how it looked on screen.
Harry’s Blue Eyes
Originally, Harry Potter had green eyes. Daniel Radcliffe has blue eyes, but he was going to wear contacts. Unfortunately, when they tried using contacts Daniel Radcliffe had a reaction to the contacts. Which means they would have to change it post-productions.
J.K. Rowling said that the only thing important is that Harry eyes resembled his mother’s eyes. So they would only need to cast someone who looked similar to Daniel Radcliffe. This was a relief for Radcliffe. However, he was also allergic to the glasses!
Bellatrix’s Fake Teeth
The actress that play Bellatrix really liked her fake teeth.
Helena Bonham Carter ended up being able to keep her fake teeth home after the films. She keeps it in her bathroom. She takes it out when she misses Bellatrix.
