The Wand Chooses the Wizard at Ollivanders Universal Orlando
Ollivanders at Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a wand selection show at Universal Orlando Resort. It is fun for all ages!
This is where young wizards and witches come in search of the most essential wizarding item: their wand. Here at Ollivanders, a seasoned wizard selects guests from your group to have a wand selected for them.
Watch our experience as our group tries out a spell or two before it’s determined which wand is best for the learning wizards.
Guests are welcomed to go through the wand experience even if they decide not to purchase the wand that selects them at Ollivanders.
In addition to the wand experience, there’s a shop where you can browse the full selection of wands. Inside Ollivanders Universal Orlando, towering walls reveal thousands of boxes stacked to the ceiling. And within each box, a wand is waiting to choose its wizard.

There are two Ollivanders Universal Orlando — one in Hogsmeade and another location of the famous shop in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Diagon Alley™ at Universal Studios Florida™.
We prefer the location at Diagon Alley, because they have more rooms. So there is not long lines, like Ollivanders at Hogsmeade.
How to Get Picked for Ollivanders
We have participated in Ollivanders 20+ times. Each time, our kids are picked to participate in the show. So, what are some hints to get selected for the Ollivanders show?
You Gotta be a Kid!
90% of the time, the wizard will select a child to participate in the Ollivanders show. 😉
Look Excited
Prep your kids to look excited to be in Ollivanders. The more excited you look and act, the more likely you will get selected.
Dress the Part
If you are a huge Harry Potter fan, dress the part. Wear a robe or cosplay your favorite Harry Potter character.
If you do have a wand, give it to mom and dad to hide. If the wizard sees you have a wand already, they will not select you.
Stand at the Front
When you walk into the room, the Universal Team Member will have children stand in the front and adults in the back. Make sure you walk into Ollivanders with the kids in front of you, so they automatically stand out. If they walk in hiding behind you, the wizard may not see them as you walk in.

Are the Wands FREE?
If you are selected for Ollivanders, the wands are not free. You do have to purchase them.
The Universal Team Member will talk with you about the options. You can purchase the wand that was selected for you or you can wander through Ollivanders Wand Shop to pick out your own wand.
