Back in January, the gang from Jones Family Travels took a visit to Universal Orlando and discovered they were testing a new virtual queue with the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction!
It turned out that the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem virtual queue test only lasted about two weeks. It allowed guests to reserve a free time slot to return to the attraction for priority boarding. The return time could be reserved in person by using a touchscreen kiosk located outside the ride that dispenses paper tickets, or through the official Universal Orlando smartphone app. It seems it was a test in advance of the April 2017 opening of the Race Through New York starring Jimmy Fallon. The virtual queue for Jimmy’s ride functions basically the same way.
We hope more virtual lines will become available at Universal Orlando. As of right now, the only way to get a priority boarding ticket at other attractions is through the purchase of Universal Express Pass.
Rock Climbing at Diagon Alley?
As always, we had to stop into Diagon Alley to cast a few spells and take in the sites and sounds of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! But first, rock climbing! Inside of Universal Studios, hidden in the streets of New York right next to The Revenge of the Mummy, you can face your fear of heights by climbing a three-story rock wall. The kids love this experience! It’s safe and inexpensive and really fun for them, so we do it whenever we can.
There’s another rock climbing opportunity near Camp Jurassic at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, too!
What do you think of Universal’s virtual queue system? And have you ever done the rock climbing at Universal?
