Since the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter last June, many rumors have swirled about Universal Orlando expanding the current park to make it bigger and include more of the Harry Potter storyline and brand.
Some of the most recent rumors have the Wizarding World moving into the current Lost Continent. We’re hearing everything from a Gringott’s mine vehicle coaster in the current Poseidon’s Fury, a Leaky Cauldron restaurant, Diagon Alley, and a Triwizard Tournament at the current Eighth Voyage of Sinbad.
Now, Screamscape reported last week that even the LA Times has picked up on the expansion rumors. The newspaper reports that Universal has been conducting some guest surveys about a possible expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter that could double the size of the entire land. A major national paper picking up on a “rumor” seems to lend more credence to the chatter.
I see no reason why Universal Orlando would not capitalize on the huge success of the Harry Potter brand, if they can. The current park is small and leaves out many parts of the storyline that could be added to the park.
