On your next visit to Islands of Adventure and Wizarding World of Harry Potter park (when it opens on June 18th), take a look at the Universal Meal Deal.
The Meal Deal offers an opportunity to eat all day long for one low price — $19.99 + tax per adult and $9.99 + tax per child.
Features
- This price includes a single park (Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure)
- The price does not include a beverage — you can add an unlimited refill souvenir cup for $8.99 + tax. Individual drinks cost about $2.
- Each “meal” includes 1 entree platter and 1 dessert — this is what you get each time you go through the line, which is unlimited.
- You are limited to 3 specific food service locations at each park.
- You can add a CityWalk dinner entree for $6 + tax — valid at 4 participating restaurants in CityWalk
- You can add a second park. For adults it was $23.99 + tax, but since they didn’t advertise that price anywhere, I would expect it to change, regularly.
- Children 9 and under must order from the child’s menu.
Personal Experience
I purchased the Universal Meal Deal at Islands of Adventure on my last visit. See my notes below for some information you won’t find on the Meal Deal flyer or on Universal Orlando’s site.
- The 3 restaurants at Islands had very similar menus — cheeseburger, chicken sandwich, fried chicken fingers, pizza, and one “different” entree option. It seemed to me that my options were very limited and nothing real healthy to eat.
- The entree I got for lunch and dinner was $7.99 + tax and the dessert was $3.99 + tax. I don’t really care for dessert, so although that assures that the Meal Deal is truly a deal, I didn’t see the value. Also, the free dessert does not include ice cream. Didn’t really affect me, but could be a deal breaker for some.
- The lack of a drink can make this less of a deal, especially for families. I would suggest getting the souvenir, unlimited refill cup and sharing it with the whole family to save some money. You can’t share food, but nothing is said about drinks. 🙂
- Each participating restaurant has a stand-up card for the Meal Deal at the start of the food service line. The card shows a few of the available entrees from that restaurant for the Meal Deal. The card makes you think you are restricted to only those entrees shown. I thought this was a bit misleading. You can order any of the entrees on the menu for your Meal Deal. Don’t let the stand-up cards misguide you.
