Best Things to Eat and Drink at Mardi Gras 2017 at Universal Studios Florida
Each spring, guests can experience the many great sights and sounds of Universal’s Mardi Gras celebration, from special guest musical performances to the big Mardi Gras Parade with stunning floats and beads. And you can’t miss the tastes of Mardi Gras at the French Quarter Courtyard.
Arrive a little before sunset to Universal Studios Florida, and stroll around the French Quarter Courtyard. Here you can pick up some delicious N’awlins-style Cajun and Creole bites inspired by the big flavors of the Big Easy, all paired well with New Orleans inspired drinks and cocktails. Today, we are going to share with you the best things to eat and drink at Mardi Gras 2017 at Universal Studios Florida.
Louisiana’s diverse history brings together flavors from French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and African cultures into a beautiful, rustic spicy stew known as Cajun cuisine. Much of the cuisine is characterized by steaming pots of rice, spicy Andouille sausages, juicy shrimp and seafood, tomatoes, and the holy trinity of green bell peppers, onions, and celery.
At Universal’s Mardi Gras, you can feast on dishes like spicy jambalaya, shrimp gumbo, red beans and rice with andouille sausage. Then finish it off with a sugar-powdered fried beignet doughnut or a slice of king cake.
Here are some of my favorite food and drink choices from the French Quarter Courtyard at Universal’s Mardi Gras:
Cajun Sampler – featuring Jambalaya, Shrimp Gumbo, and Andouille Sausage
Red Beans and Rice and the Andouille Sausage Po’ Boy Sandwich
Chicken Muffeletta Sandwich
Shrimp Po’ Boy Sandwich
Fried Beignet Doughnuts
Cinnamon King Cake
New this year are fried funnel puffs topped with fruit or chocolate.
Strawberry Funnel Puffs
Bananas Foster Crepes
Also new in the drink department are Mardi Gras frozen and specialty beverages, including the Ragin’ Rumbalaya, Carnival Cocktail, Masquerade Madness, and Berry Vicious Voodoo.
The Masquerade Madness Cocktail – a mixture of the delicious Ragin’ Rumbalaya and Carnival Cocktail in a Mardi Gras souvenir cup.
Grab an Andouille Sausage Po’ Boy sandwich and a Ragin’ Rumbalaya cocktail before heading on over to watch the Mardi Gras parade, all while the confetti and beaded necklaces fly.
It’s not too late to attend Mardi Gras 2017 at Universal Studios Florida! Universal’s Mardi Gras runs from Feb. 4–March 25 with parades and French Quarter celebrations happening every night, for 50 nights straight. Choose a night, grab your tickets and come join Florida’s biggest party!
