It's been a rumor before -- a Lord of the Rings "island" at Universal's Islands of Adventure, but with the recent success of another "wizard," Universal may be looking to add to it's "magical" line-up.
With the opening of the new Harry Potter park, Universal has increased their surveys of guests, with the Lord of the Rings themed island coming up more often than others in the surveys. The survey also asks questions about other movies, such as Avatar, Twilight, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, and Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy. However, the most detailed and frequent questions are all about Lord of the Rings.
Don't get carried away and cancel your current Harry Potter park vacation, though. Universal took about 2 years to complete the Wizarding World theme park, so even if the LOTR project were ready to go, it's going to be a while.
