First Headmaster of Hogwarts

by on August 6, 2010

Who was the first headmaster of Hogwart's?  You might wonder why I'm asking this question.  You see, one of the statues inside Hogwart's Castle at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter park is a male figure pointing.  Almost universally (nice pun, huh?), the statue is cited as the first headmaster of Hogwart's....but who is the first headmaster?

The statue is clearly male and one of the four co-founders of Hogwart's must have been the first headmaster (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin).  The "male" statue eliminates Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.  If I were betting on which of the two males was the first headmaster, I'd go with Godric Gryffindor.

What are your thoughts?  Anyone know the actual answer?  If I read it or saw it, I've forgotten.

There is no way this is Godric Gryffindor, he looks totally different to his description. My theory is that after the four founders led the school and the houses the way of directing the school had to change. Then the “Headmaster” position had to be created totally apart from the ones that directed the houses.

Probably this statue represent the first one to assume that position. As for the name of that character, it never have been mentioned, I hope JK mention him on the Encyclopaedia to come ^^.

None of the Founders ever held that title but I don’t remember any mention of the first headmaster’s name and The Happy Potter Wiki does not have it either.
I agree with Negra. I am hoping this information will be included in the Encyclopedia.
