JK Rowling has indicated that she could write a new Harry Potter book, but only if she “conjures up a fabulous idea.”
Rowling, talking with BBC, mentioned that she no longer needs to write for money, but if she could imagine a plot for a new Harry Potter book that contributed to her growth as a writer and inspired her readers that she would write that Harry Potter book.
More from JK on the possibility of a new Harry Potter book:
“Harry Potter truly liberated me in the sense that there’s only one reason to write, for me — if I genuinely have something I want to say, and I want to publish it,” she told the BBC. And she added: “Now if I had a fabulous idea that came out of that world — because I loved writing it — I’d do it.”
While legions of Harry Potter fans would welcome the release of a new book in the series, this may just be a gimmick to sell more books. Rowling is releasing her new book, “The Casual Vacancy” today and many speculate that this “I could write a new Harry Potter book” discussion could just be marketing hype.
