Wizarding World of Harry Potter Shuts Down Dueling Dragons

As of Monday, Universal Orlando has shut down the Dueling Dragons roller coaster to begin final preparations and theming for the Dragon Challenge in the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

I'm really sad to see this go.  I was on the construction team for the original Dueling Dragons that you see, above.  I was hoping to bring my kids one day to show them some of the stuff that "Daddy" built, but I guess it will just have to be the pictures.  Time to make way for the bigger and better Harry Potter land!

    I heard they are moving the dragons to Hogsmead….. but I am not certain. It's just a rumor. I hop so though! The dragons were my favorite part of Universal!

    Hogsmeade essentially envelops the Dueling Dragons, now. New name, taking away the Dragons and re-theming the queue building a bit, but the coaster will remain. Now, just a part of Wizarding World of Harry Potter, instead of Lost Continent.

    I loved this ride, it is the best in the park and an icon. My son waited years to be big enough to ride so it has a special meaning to me and my family. :(
