Given the recent rainstorms in Central Orlando, here is an update to our prior post on rainy day activities at Universal Orlando. Visiting the Universal Orlando theme parks during hurricane season or even during a late day passing thunderstorm in Central Florida? No worries! Your long awaited vacation to Universal Orlando is NOT ruined! The crowds are much lighter during the rain so it’s a great time to visit the parks!
There are plenty of activities to enjoy during the rain, even when it’s more than a 20 minute passing shower. So grab a poncho and check out some of these great ways to have fun at Universal Orlando during the rain!
Most attractions, shops and restaurants at Universal Orlando theme parks are actually indoors!
Universal Studios
Shrek 4D, Revenge of the Mummy, Terminator 2: 3D, Horror Makeup Show, MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack, The Simpsons Ride, E.T. Adventure, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Transformers The Ride 3D, and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts are all indoor attractions.
Better yet they also have indoor queues so your time in the rain is limited.
If you’re in Diagon Alley, check out a wand show at Ollivander’s too. Grab a burger and a shake at Mel’s Drive-In, eat lunch or dinner at Leaky Cauldron or take a coffee break at Starbuck’s. Check out some shops too like the new Hello Kitty store.
Islands of Adventure
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Jurassic Park Discovery Center, Poseidon’s Fury, The Cat in the Hat, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey are all indoor attractions with indoor queues.
At Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, walking through Hogwarts Castle to get to the ride is an attraction in itself too! Also, at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, grab a bite and a butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks and enjoy the “show” upstairs.
Or take some time and walk through the shops–most of them are connected so that you don’t have to go outside! Finally, if you can brave the rain in your poncho for a few minutes, check out the wand show at Ollivanders! The line moves quickly and may even be nonexistent in the rain!
Universal CityWalk
Grab a bite at your choice of restaurants, catch a movie at the AMC Universal Cineplex or catch a showing of the Blue Man Group show exclusive to the Universal Orlando Resort.
Universal Orlando Onsite Resorts
If you do decide to take a brief break from the parks, head over to Cabana Bay Beach Resort for a round or 2 of bowling and enjoy some great grub while you’re at it. If bowling isn’t your thing, each resort has great dining options in all price ranges.
There is no shortage of rainy day activities to enjoy at Universal Orlando so grab the rain gear and head on out to those parks!
